Driving over 2000 km, covering a good portion of Albania’s border line, this was an intensive project. Euronatur contacted me and asked if I was willing to collaborate on their upcoming project. How can anyone refuse a titanic project like this…
The idea was simple: documenting the wildlife, social life and infrastructure where communist era borders used to be. Aimed to bring to life a part of the world that had been largely forgotten since the fall of the Berlin Wall, it was a massive undertaking. Along the way, I documented a wide variety of animal species and habitats, as well as the social and cultural changes that have taken place since the end of communism.
I documented both the physical landscape and the people who lived there, as well as their stories of life before, during, and after the fall of communism. This project would provide a unique glimpse into how these places have changed since the fall of communism, and how they are adapting to the new reality of the 21st century.
