Over the past months, I’ve had the opportunity to document the Buna River and its delta — a remarkable transboundary ecosystem shared by Albania and Montenegro. This region, celebrated for its rich biodiversity and cultural heritage, is recognized internationally through designations such as Ramsar, KBA, IPA, and IBA.
Through my lens, I aimed to capture both the beauty and the fragility of this natural treasure, as well as the inspiring efforts of those working to protect it. I documented the work of PPNEA and EnvPro within their cross-border conservation project, supported by CEPF, with a particular focus on safeguarding the critically endangered Adriatic sturgeon.
From eDNA monitoring and scientific research to grassroots initiatives like river cleanups, educational programs, and community training, I sought to show how local commitment can drive international environmental progress.
This film is more than a visual record — it is a reflection of what is at stake and a call to action. The Buna River and its delta must be protected and restored, not only for nature but for future generations.
