Another major project was successfully completed through the collaboration of three institutions, with support from the Ministry of Culture of Albania. The central objective of this initiative was the comprehensive digitalization of the parks. Achieving this required the execution of a wide range of coordinated tasks, including the systematic photographic documentation of nearly every aspect of the parks. All materials were carefully cataloged and stored within a centralized database, designed to function as a server repository. This structure allows the same data to be efficiently accessed and deployed across multiple platforms, such as mobile applications and websites.
One of the most demanding components of the project was Paths of Faith, a feature dedicated to documenting historical places of worship and cultural routes once traversed and inhabited by ancient civilizations. This phase required traveling approximately 1,500 kilometers across Albania to photograph and catalog churches, monasteries, and abandoned sites, many of which are located in remote or elevated terrain. Visiting these locations offered a distinctive and profound experience, regardless of personal religious beliefs.
An additional technical challenge was the creation of a 360-degree virtual tour, incorporating both aerial and ground-based photography of the two parks. All visual assets were meticulously captured, stitched, edited, and ultimately published on Google Street View to provide an immersive and accessible digital experience.
Special thanks are extended to the Executive Director of the Park, Mrs. Ornela Durmishaj, whose dedication and commitment to excellence were instrumental to the project’s success, as well as to Mr. Arjan Dimo and Mr. Admir Xhelaj for their valuable support throughout the process.
